who we are

At Twin Voices Art Therapy, we believe that healing and self-discovery can happen in many languages—and sometimes, without words at all.

We’re a UK-based online counselling and art therapy space, offering sessions in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin. Our name reflects our mission: to honour the many “voices” within us—spoken, unspoken, and expressed through art.

We know that starting therapy can feel daunting. Maybe you’re carrying something too heavy to put into words. Maybe you’ve been navigating life between cultures, never quite feeling like you belong. Or maybe you’re simply looking for a place to breathe, reflect, and reconnect with yourself.

Here, there’s no pressure to “be good at art.” The focus isn’t on creating something perfect—it’s on the process, the release, and the small, unexpected moments of discovery. Whether you prefer exploring with paint and clay or simply talking things through, your way of expressing yourself is always valid.

Meet Chiu

Chiu Ue Wan  (MA, MSc, HCPC)

I’m Chiu, a UK-based, HCPC-registered Art Psychotherapist and a registered EMDR Practitioner. My work is trauma-focused, and depending on your individual journey, I can help you work through specific traumatic memories and lower the level of distress they cause—always at a pace that feels safe for you.

Before becoming a therapist, I lived, studied, and taught across the UK, experiences that deeply shaped my understanding of dysphoria, multicultural identity, and the ways we carry our personal histories. In early 2022, I founded
Twin Voices Chinese School, combining my love
for cultural education with my belief in creative expression as a bridge between people.

Over the past five years, I’ve provided art therapy—both online and in-person—across care homes, SEND schools, alternative provision units, day centres, and council services in England and Scotland. I currently practise with Children North East and the Northumberland Recovery College.

I believe in the power of empathy, active listening, and creating a safe, inclusive space where people can feel seen and heard. I’ve witnessed how art-making and EMDR can open powerful, non-verbal pathways into the subconscious, helping process trauma and restore a sense of balance. My approach blends Attachment-Based Psychodynamic Theory, Person-Centred Practice, Mentalisation-Based Therapy (MBT), Trauma-Informed Art Therapy, and somatic techniques to meet each person exactly where they are.
